Ken Mansell According to Statistics Canada, in 2010 83 per cent of Canadians assisted someone who needed help at least once that year. This help often involves coaching, personal care, help with shopping or appointments, housework and related maintenance. Saskatchewan had the highest rate of formal volunteering in non-profit organizations. Surprisingly, 45 per cent reported they had not become involved because no one had asked them to. So you can make this a better place, but don't wait to be asked. Also, if you need help then ask, 45 per cent of the time it should work.
