I guess my favourite thing about the holidays is getting to watch my son’s face light up when we’re driving around after dark and he sees all the houses decorated up.
Between the elaborate setups on some people’s lawns and the always-impressive display at the museum, it’s a great time of year for just cruising around town to let my little guy “ooh” and “ahh” over all the work people have put into their Christmas decorations.

What I enjoy most about Christmas is the heightened sense of anticipation that comes with the season. I like the generosity of spirit that seems to appear more at this time of year than any other.
Flin Flon has always looked out for the less fortunate, with our local service clubs and churches reaching out to the less fortunate.
Sometimes it is the simple things like the smell of Christmas baking or the fresh pine smell of the Christmas tree that transports me back to the happy times of my childhood, when all things were possible. I wish there was a way to can that feeling.

I love Charlie Brown’s Christmas:
“And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them…and they were sore afraid.
“And the angel said unto them: ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born…Christ the Lord…
“And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men.’”
That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
