Trevor Miller Well, it's been almost 30 years since my last Trout Festival, having just moved back to town at the end of last summer, but I'm looking forward to taking my son on the rides and enjoying some fair food with him before the fireworks blow his sugar-addled mind. For myself, the local entertainment promises to be great, the lineup of local people putting their talents on display promises to be a lot of fun; it says a lot about the community and the efforts festival organizers and volunteers have put into making things work. Ken Mansell My favourites are the pancake breakfast put on by the Rotarians at Creekside Park, and the Canada Day parade. The restored vintage cars on Main Street are always a great addition to the day. I never miss the canoe races on Ross lake; not like the Gold Rush Derby, but a better view. The end of the Trout Festival may come some day, but thanks to the volunteers it's not yet the end. A line from the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel says it all: 'Everything will be all right in the end... if it's not all right then it's not yet the end.' Denny Hyndman I enjoy the buzz of everyone out and about the most. The organizers for Beaver Lake days, Creighton's Canada Day and Trout Festival work really hard to keep the young ones engaged, and that's important to a lot of people and shows devotion to our community. Helicopter rides sound very cool... all the events taking place really represent what our festival is about by celebrating what we love: keeping our kids entertained, the fishing, music, hoop dancers, pancakes, Battle of the Bands, hockey, canoe racing, hoop dancers, chili and bannock and beer gardens and socials! Life is certainly sweeter when we are all out enjoying it!
