I’m looking forward to the various events and festivals this area puts on throughout the year, it’s always fun and encouraging to see what our local volunteers and organizers manage to put together for the region.

More personally, it’s going to be a big year here for me when my little guy starts school this fall, so I’m looking forward to that in a big way.

And on top of all that, it’s an election year, so it will be interesting to see what will happen on the provincial and federal levels, and what changes might be coming down the line.

My hope is that in 2015, Flin Flon will realize more growth and prosperity. I hope all the difficulties our town has experienced in 2014 can be put behind us, allowing us to move forward in a more positive way. It takes a concentrated effort by many, to bring about these things, but it is possible, if we as a community work together to see this happen.

For those at City Hall, I wish them well as they continue in their efforts to upgrade our infrastructure. Thank you to the city boys in the trenches for all the hard work you do under difficult circumstances. You’re the best.

I hope that there is a significant mineral discovery that is destined to become a producing mine within a few short years. Hopefully it will be close to town and be as productive as 777.

I would also hope that the attempt to turn our beautiful area into a hazardous nuclear waste dump would be discontinued. There will never be enough support here to justify any more development.

As a taxpayer, I hope the city council and school trustees spend our taxes wisely and that outlying areas find a way to pay their share for public facilities.
