The Snow Lake Volunteer Fire Department took possession of a very distinctive and beneficial piece of equipment earlier in the month: a remote rescue vehicle referred to as a “snowbulance.”
Bought with money from the department’s budget, its purpose is remote winter/summer rescue.
The snowbulance hooks up to practically any snow machine or quad and is large enough to carry a patient and an EMS person comfortably.
“It’s got lights and a heater that run off a 12 volt battery,” said Fire Chief Cory Anaka. “Gas suspension provides a comfortable ride that I have experienced myself. It also has a conversion kit, so we can change the skis to ATV tires in the summer months. It is fully enclosed to keep the elements from patient and attendant My hopes are that we should never have to use it except for in parades. But in the case of an emergency... at least we have it.”
