The 37 annual running of the Manitoba Marathon was held on Father’s Day, June 21.
Though the community was represented, the number of Snow Lake runners was down somewhat from previous years.
The 2015 event saw Judy Peterson run in her first half marathon and Jeremy and Nicole Nickel take part in the marathon’s 10 km distance.
They all finished their respective events; exhibiting exceptional determination in
doing so.
In recapping her participation in this year’s event, Peterson said that the run and leading up to it was a rush of feelings.
“It usually is,” Peterson said in an email after the race. “As we stood waiting to start, the music from Chariots of Fire played as all the runners started off. It sends such a rush [and is] pretty awesome.”
The marathoner managed to shave 15 minutes off her training runs, finishing with a respectable time of 2:45.04.
Jeremy finished the 10-kilometre race in 1:18.58 while Nicole crossed the finish line in 2:15.09.
