Several town council members sat down to a meeting with representatives from Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT) last month in the council chambers.
On hand for the town were councillors Brenda Forsyth-Flamand, Aldon Kowalchuk, Peter Roberts, youth member Alexander Fisher and CAO Jordan Willner.
Those present from MIT were director of regional operations Barry Rempel and regional maintenance manager Darcy Delyea.
Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation requested this meeting to discuss the option of either abandoning PR No. 395 to the municipality or entering into a three-year gravel road maintenance agreement.
The benefits and consequences of both options were discussed.
The gravel road agreements are set Jan. 1, so it was noted that a decision before the end of the calendar year would be preferred.
Council advised they would like to discuss the road, its maintenance requirements and the general interest in contracting it out to Strilkiwski Contracting before a decision can be made.
The MIT representatives were thanked for attending and council plans to meet with them again before the end of 2015.
