Deputy Mayor Richard Jones attended the Snow Lake Mining Museum on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 21 to make a presentation.
He formally presented the certificate and token presented to the town last year by the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame in honour of northern mining pioneer Kate Rice’s induction.
The items were being displayed in the town office and it was felt that the museum would allow an entirely new audience the opportunity to appreciate them.
In acknowledging the presentation, museum board chairman Paul Hawman said Kate Rice material is hard to come by.
“We certainly appreciate anything anyone has to offer,” he said, adding that they are still looking for a really good photo of the area pioneer.
For those interested, the Snow Lake Mining Museum has Kate Rice books for sale, and part two in the trilogy skit on Rice’s life is being performed every Saturday afternoon at 1 pm this summer in the beverage room at the Snow Lake Motor Inn.
My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
