My Take on Snow Lake: Customer, community winners in promotion

On Tuesday, May 19, one of Cornerview Enterprise’s proprietors, Chris Samborski, asked for the attention of the 25 or so people gathered in the store parking lot.

With a large cardboard cheque in hand, Samborski thanked everyone for coming, gave a little of an overview of their in-store contests to date, and called local resident Randy Stoltz forward for the first of two presentations.

“When we first started with Family Foods, we had a couple of secondary prize winners, but that was in the first year,” he said of Cornerview’s quarterly contest affiliation with their supplier. “So I was really happy when I got a phone call from MacDonalds Consolidated saying that we had a grand prize winner. So on behalf of my customers, staff and MacDonalds Consolidated, Randy, I would like to present to you $15,000.”

Samborski then asked Deva Andrechuk, representing the Beach Enhancement Committee, and Mayor Kim Stephen to come forward.

He also introduced the regional sales representative for MacDonalds Consolidated, Danny Pasishnik.

“The second part to this contest was, we received $10,000 and we had to decide where it was going to go in the community as a donation,” Samborski said.

Following the presentation, Pasishnik advised that Cornerview is one of 60 stores that participate in the supplier’s flyer promotion program.

He estimated that they get close to 30,000 entries for contests such as the one Stoltz won.
