USW Local 7106 vice-president Terry Hornyak recently presented a cheque in the amount of $500 to Teri Olafson of the Snow Lake Cordwood Bonspiel Committee.
Noted for their benevolence, the Steelworkers give to many worthy causes within the community, and their executive and members seem always willing to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand.
In another matter, Joseph H Kerr School recently chose several students of the month for January. They were: Hunter Bartlett, Darcy Coulson, Taelor Kowalchuk, Angel Cann, Polina Gapotiy, Brayden Tower, Emmy Turnbull, Jaden Workhaven and Liam Leefe.
The students were chosen for outstanding work in their exams, help with extracurricular sports, and being helpful in the classroom and considerate with others.
