My Take on Snow Lake: A new administrator

Snow Lake’s Town Council held a ‘special meeting’ on the evening of May 12.

The only thing on the agenda was hiring a new administrator.

Those in attendance were: Mayor Kim Stephen, Deputy Mayor Richard Jones, councillors Aldon Kowalchuk, and Jodi Wilson (via phone), and assistant administrator Sharon Meuse. Absent: councillors Brenda Forsyth-Flamand, Robin Turnbull, and Peter Roberts.

Mayor Stephen opened the meeting and called for a mover and seconder for a resolution to hire Jordon Willner as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Snow Lake, effective May 19.

The motion passed unanimously. A further resolution was put forward waiving the probation period for Mr. Willner’s acceptance into the municipal employees benefit program; it also passed unanimously.

In reply to questions after the meeting, council members advised that Mr. Willner is 24 years old and originally from Rorkton, Manitoba.

He is a qualified municipal administrator with two years of experience in the communities of Winnipegosis and
St. Rose.

Council members say that he interviewed very well and they were impressed with his knowledge, insights, and eagerness.

My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
