My Take on Snow Lake: A memorable evening

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 241 held the 12th Annual Newlywed Game on the evening of Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 241 held the 12th Annual Newlywed Game on the evening of Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day.

Club president Sharon Stubbs advised that, “The evening began with a scrumptious prime rib dinner, the roast done to perfection by Chef Rupert Klyne.”

And that, “Lois [Charron] did her usual wonderful job with the meal.”

After the dinner, Stubbs took the opportunity to present Comrade Garry Zamzow with a pin honouring his 50 years as a Legion member.

Stubbs noted that the Newlywed Game began shortly after dinner and that there were six couples who took part.

Acting as the quizmaster for this edition of the time-honoured and traditional game was Shelley Chrapun, and she very capably went about putting questions to the 12 contestants.

After several rounds of questions and answers, the winners were declared. They were Jill and Matt Arpin, with a perfect score.

The Arpins won a night at South Beach Casino, courtesy of South Beach and $50 toward a meal courtesy of the Snow Lake Legion.

“On their heels were Lana Dunbar and Jean Guy Trudeau as close runners up,” said the president. “All six couples were presented with a box of chocolates and a good time was had by all.”

Other contestants in this year’s edition were: Hugh and Cookie McKercher, Robert and Pam Stoupe, Eric and Rebecca Zosa, and Sharon Watt and Blaine Spencer (last year’s winners).

My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
