MP Report: A Canadian milestone

In 2017, Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation. The main theme of the celebration will be “strong, proud and free.

In 2017, Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

The main theme of the celebration will be “strong, proud and free.”

These are the traits that our nation has always presented to the world and are the source of our national pride.

2017 is certain to be an exceptional year for Canadians and we are excited to be planning the celebration of this momentous occasion.

We will ensure that government invests in the new Canada 150 Fund are strategic and designed to create economic spin-offs and employment for people across the country.

The Canada 150 Celebrations will provide a unique opportunity to honour the past while planning for, and building, and stronger future for our nation.

Programming will emphasize Canada’s proud identity, it’s rich history and heritage and its linguistic, ethnic, cultural and regional characteristics.

In addition to the main theme, Canada 150 will emphasize such slogans as, “give back to Canada,” “honour the exceptional” and “celebrate and bring Canadians together” with corresponding investment to align with these goals.

Complementary to strategic investment, the Canada 150 Fund will be engaging with community leaders to maximize the scope and impact of the 150th anniversary activities.

Our Conservative government is pleased to be involved in the planning for this prestigious occasion.
