Our postal service is a critical public
service.
That was the clear message at a recent meeting in Thompson. It is a message I have been hearing throughout our riding.
At the meeting, Gord Fischer from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers talked about the erosion of postal service throughout the country. He talked about the growing opposition to the elimination of door-to-door delivery and the erosion of rural postal service.
Kris Blake from Thompson, president of People First, talked about the impact that the elimination of door-to-door delivery will have on seniors and the disabled in communities like Thompson and Flin Flon.
Many local residents expressed their concern about the erosion of postal service and what it will mean to them.
What is at stake is whether we will continue to have the public postal service that so many Canadians rely on. It is clear that those of us that live in remote and northern communities have the most
to lose.
I will be hosting a meeting in Flin Flon on the evening of Oct. 15. It is time to speak out. It is time to save our Canada Post.
