Continued from pg. 8 "We are hoping to learn a bit more about his mitral valve before we leave Edmonton," said Miller. "When it was repaired, it wasn't a full repair because it just wasn't possible. Because of what he had to do to make it work more efficiently to get the blood through the valve instead of how it was being backed up before, it is now leaking. It's a moderate regurgitation right now, and we'll see how it looks when he gets another echo (echocardiogram) done within the next week or so. 'Not perfect' "So it's not perfect, and it won't last forever. He will need another surgery at some point, and if they can't do anything else to repair it further, then it will need replacing eventually. When a valve is leaking, it doesn't magically get better... it just keeps leaking and can get worse over time. So we will see what Dr. Rebeyka says about it, we haven't had a chance to really talk to him about it and ask questions." Brayden's parents ended their post by stating, "Thank you for all of your positive thoughts, prayers, whatever you sent our way... they worked their magic... Keep praying for fast healing and for his heart to just keep doing what it's doing!" Last reports have Brayden discharged from the Edmonton hospital, doing very well, and with his parents, on their way back to Winnipeg. From there, they will travel back to Snow Lake in a few days. My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
