Scheduled flights between Flin Flon and Saskatoon certainly sound like a good idea.
But every time an optimistic airline offers this service, the business just isn’t there to sustain it.
Missinippi Airways, a First Nation-owned airline, recently ended its trial run of regular flights between Flin Flon / The Pas and Saskatoon.
Kudos to Missinippi for giving it a shot. The airline had high hopes of success given how many people in this region board flights to major cities out of Saskatoon, not to mention all of the medical- and business-related travel to that city.

If you’re someone who buys into the bad rap surrounding young people, clearly you weren’t at this year’s high school graduation ceremonies in Flin Flon and area.
The ceremonies showcased some very talented and promising young men and women. Hapnot grad Rebecca Kozar, for instance, earned multiple bursaries, including Hudbay’s coveted WA Green Bursary, with an academic average of nearly 100 per cent.
You’ve heard it a million times by now, but here’s one last one for you, graduates: Congratulations!

Congratulations also to the Beaver Lake Heritage Club and the Denare Beach Yacht and Cattleman’s Association for its project to commemorate Indian Island.
Situated outside Denare Beach, Indian Island is where Aboriginal residents of the village lived before relocating to the Amisk Lake reserve.
Volunteers are now working to establish a small display shelter on the picturesque island. It will be lined with photographs, a map of where families lived and other historical artifacts.
The older I get, the more I’m struck by how quickly things change. Projects such as this ensure that as the years go by, our communities never lose sight of their roots.

If you’re not participating in The Reminder’s weekly online polls (the
reminder.ca), I hope you’ll start.
True, these are not scientific surveys, but they are perhaps the closest thing we have in our area of determining where the public stands on the issues of the day.
New polls are put up every Tuesday at or around noon. And for all of you who have asked, you cannot vote more than once from the same IP address.
Local Angle runs Fridays.
