Letters to the Editor: Friends and family seen during Homecoming

Dear Editor, Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach are to be complimented for hosting so many successful events during our Homecoming 2017.

Dear Editor,

Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach are to be complimented for hosting so many successful events during our Homecoming 2017.

The organization, huge volunteer effort and many, many events were an amazing example of communities working together for the public good.

Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, but that was compensated by the warmth of the welcome to all of us who attended.

It was a treat to see so many friends from near and far. Although I was only able to attend some of the events, comments from others suggest the Homecoming was a big success.

My compliments to all concerned.

Dear Editor,

The recent Homecoming was a lot of fun. Much credit goes to all of the organizers and volunteers. No event gets off the ground without these people and their hard work. Reminder coverage keeps us informed.

I attended the Friday Fish Fry and Saturday’s Rotary pickerel supper and evening Homecoming at the Whitney. Congrats to the performers at both Forum events (well done).

I very much enjoyed exchanging a few words with some ex-Flin Flonners, including John Scott, Glen Bryson, Gil Desroches, Gary Abar, Pete Premachuk, Dennis Goll, Brian Krysa, Mary Crearar, Gary Davies, Larry Evans, Herb Harburn; and some Bombers from way back in the ’50s and ’60s: Gord Gillies, Bill Dobbyn, Cliff Lennartz and smiling Joey Hamilton.

The spirit and goodwill is what stood out. Exchanging memories directly is only a piece of the experience. Observing others’ embrace or shaking hands with ear to ear smiles is fun as well.

For those of us who enjoy all things nostalgic, we realize odds are we may never cross paths with many of these old friends again, but for a  few days in the summer of 2017, we were family again.

Thank you, Flin Flon.
