letter to the editor

Dear Editor,

Re: “Smoky air boosts bear sightings,” The Reminder, Sept. 13.

CTV News reported on Sept. 14 that half of Canadian wildlife is in decline due to climate change, pollution, deforestation, poaching, overfishing and hunting, fires, etc.

We humans flee wildfires and so do wildlife – such as bears – and they have just as much right to life on earth as us.

I was appalled to read that a mother bear and her two cubs were euthanized near École McIsaac School in June, either by Sustainable Development or the RCMP. I guess that was easier to do than to relocate them.

I’m a wildlife advocate and firmly believe in preserving life, and we must protect wildlife for our children, grandchildren and future generations.

My hope and prayer is that other Flin Flon and area residents do as well.
