Dear Editor, I recently read an article in your paper about having council look at tendering out the contract for airlines coming into Flin Flon. I travel between Flin Flon and Winnipeg on a regular basis and find both airlines very accommodating and very professional. The last flight back home was canceled, but I was able to get on the other airline, so I was still able to get home that day. After being away for eight weeks I really do appreciate the two airlines working together to move passengers. As far as having only one airline so as to increase the business for the one, I believe that if either one was losing money they would be canceling these flights. They both have been in business for a long time because they know their business. If mayor and council were to pursue this idea, then I would imagine they wouldn't stop at just this one type of business. If they did as the gentleman in the article suggested, then they could also say that only one clothing store, lumber yard, one hotel, one lodge on any one lake would be allowed so as to give the remaining ones the bulk of the business. The bottom line is that competition is good for business. I do realize if you walk up on any given day and purchase a ticket you do pay full fare, but they both seem to have seat sales on most of the time. Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion.
