Dear Editor,
I would like to remind people that when a phone canvasser calls you on behalf of one of the candidates for MLA, they are just people who want to make a difference. They volunteer to help the candidate of their choice.
Please find time to be polite and courteous. Hang-ups are fine, but that doesn’t guarantee that they won’t be phoning again to get the answer they were looking for in the first place.
I taught my children to be polite to people, and they would be punished if rude. I think adults need to remember those lessons we were taught, and practice them.
Be nice to canvassers; they are people with feelings and it is never nice to be rudely spoken to or yelled at. They are not your target when you are angry at a government. They are just volunteering and working for what they believe in, the same as you, and they are being polite while doing it.
