Dear Editor,
How frequently do I hear people complain about things in our community and in our world and then say “but I guess there is nothing I can do about it”?
In terms of our Flin Flon city council, that is not true. They are willing to listen to suggestions and act upon them when they can do so.
A few months back I wrote a letter to the city expressing concerns that there is insufficient handicapped parking at our Community Hall. I received a letter back saying my concern was referred to the Traffic Commission.
I received a further letter from city administrator Mark Kolt that the commission had reviewed my concerns and taken them back to council with recommendations that handicapped stalls be placed in front and behind the Community Hall. These recommendations have since been acted upon.
I thank council for their diligence in fulfilling this request. They have proven that our democratic system does work and they stand ready to listen to the concerns of the people they represent.
