Editor: We the executive of the Phantom Lake Golf Club Inc. would like to extend our support for the Community Plex proposal. We expect that such a complex would enhance our facility and more importantly have a tremendous impact on the overall health and well being of the communities it would service. The proposed location of the complex is complimentary to the current golf course and presents a mutually beneficial opportunity to collaborate. The proposal requires some commitment from our organization that would augment the project and would provide us with an opportunity to address the issue of our aging support structure. Relocating our clubhouse and club storage into the new complex would address our needs and provide a valuable opportunity to share operational expenses. Partnering with other user groups ensures that the new facility will be utilized to its fullest potential and would enable the respective groups to manage user fees. We endeavour to ensure that our recreational activities are affordable to maximize community accessibility and participation. Being attached to a state of the art facility may also have an impact on future plans to expand the golf course and promotes an opportunity to draw regional and interprovincial events to our area. As a community stakeholder, we would endorse that the proposed Community Plex would provide a wide spectrum of benefits on a regional basis. The multifaceted nature of the project provides a continuum of services that addresses the physical, social, and emotional needs of community members. It will provide recreational and cultural opportunities to citizens of all ages and would expose our youth to a wide range of positive experiences. We are presently faced with the reality that our current infrastructure is aging. The absence of affordable and accessible recreational and cultural opportunities would have a devastating impact. The realization of the Community Plex would ensure the longevity of opportunities in our region and all the benefits this implies. We would also note that the Community Plex is a unique project in that it serves several communities, in two provinces. It is encouraging that our respective provincial and municipal governments are working together to ensure that the needs of community members are met. In conclusion, we are in full support of the Community Plex proposal. We look forward to working with the Community Plex Committee to achieve the goal of providing quality recreational and cultural opportunities for the Flin Flon/Creighton area residents.
