Same sex marriages. Good or bad? We'll never agree, but I have to take a bit of an exception to some of the stands of those against it. These "anti SSM's" say that it goes against tradition, against the Bible. How soon we forget! If we never went against the Bible or tradition, we would be way back. For instance, the earth would still be flat, women would be chattel, a possession to be owned, there would still be slavery. You would most definitely not be allowed your own opinion, the King wouldn't allow it. People will scream that this is different, it's not. Look at women's liberation, it caused an even bigger hoop-la when it was suggested. Women ...people? Give them an education? Ridiculous! "It hurts our children," they say. They said that when they talked about letting the blacks and the natives into school and society with the whites. They also said that when certain medicines and vaccines (that are now very common and accepted) were introduced. What is really hurting our children is discrimination, fighting, wars, starvation, homelessness, abuse. It's funny how many people are falling back on "I can't agree, it's against my religion." The number of people who didn't even attend church (etc.) before this is amazing. Convenient! Okay, then how about "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Some say that if we 'give in' to this, we'll start a chain reaction, people from all over will believe that they too have rights. Rights to be recognized, rights to be protected, to be heard. How utterly amazing. I thought they did have those rights. No, you can be against same sex marriages if you want, but don't take the moral high ground, you'll only fall down when we find out YOUR "dirty little secrets."
