Operation Red Nose is a service that is provided free of charge to members of the community over the holiday season.
The Red Nose service is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Flin Flon. The club depends on many volunteers to work the program to get folks and their vehicles home safely.
These volunteers have been cleared with a criminal-record check and have followed the rules to be Red Nose volunteers.
Local businesses support the program through many different ways, whether it be food or gas for these volunteers.
The service is free of charge but donations are accepted. Manitoba Public Insurance pays the club for each ride they provide.
The club does this as a community service and it is the community who benefits. All funds raised during the program are given to the community for youth and sports.
The club does not keep any of these funds. Community groups apply to the committee to access funds for their projects that involve youth.
Funds have been used for such things as Camp Whitney; the skateboard park; the Channing playground; Border Explorers Snowmobile Club snowmobile safety; city playgrounds; Creighton Community School sports; Flin Flon school playgrounds; and many other projects. Our youth are the winners!
We encourage all groups planning Christmas parties to let us know the time and date and we will be ready to help all your participants get home safely.
This is your opportunity to help keep the roads safe and have our children benefit.
Operation Red Nose covers Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach, Schist Lake and Bakers Narrows. Please support your local Rotary Club and use the service.
