Dear Editor,
Five children have died under suspicious or criminal circumstances while in foster care in Saskatchewan in recent years.
These little ones deserved so much better for their short lives.
The Saskatchewan government has laid off 100 workers in the ministry responsible for these kids.
This government is heading in the wrong direction when it comes to social services and foster child care, when even the Children’s Advocate has said that proper staff resources are a concern.
Saskatchewan has a lot of wonderful foster families doing their part to care for kids who need it, but this government seems unprepared to oversee the social services and foster system.
Cuts should be reversed, problems investigated and changes made, because the government simply must do a better job caring for the kids that need care the most.
