Dear Editor, We are fortunate to live in a community with so many great community builders Ð those on the Arts Council, the Bomber Board, recreation committees, service clubs, etc. There are also individual community builders that may be less well known and I wanted to inform your readers about one of those individuals. It occurred to me as I enjoyed countless Christmas events that Susan Fulford is an amazing community builder. Mrs. Fulford participates in several choirs in the community and helps to organize various festivals and workshops for the choirs and musicians in the community. Susan also teaches the Music For Young Children program for numerous children each year and works tirelessly to provide an excellent environment for children to explore their musical gifts. In addition, Mrs. Fulford volunteers hours each week to organize and conduct the Coppertones childrenÕs choir. This choir is a way for children who like to sing to join with others and share their talents with the community. It is her work with children that I especially recognize as a community building work. First, her students and choirs sing or play at many different community celebrations which enhance those events. Second, she always arranges for the children to share their music with those in the various seniorsÕ homes in our community. Bringing music to those who might be less able to experience community events is a wonderful contribution to our community. Finally, in her work with children Mrs. Fulford is helping to prepare the next generation to enjoy and participate in community activities. For those who have enjoyed a Borealis concert, a Community Choir production or other similar event, remember that those talented adults were once children who were encouraged and supported in exploring their talents. Mrs. Fulford is one of those encouragers and supporters for children in our community. Each of us may know a person like Susan Fulford who makes great contributions to the community. I would like to commend Mrs. Fulford and encourage each of you to take the time to express a personal word of thanks to those who help make our community great. Robert Bratvold Creighton
