Dear Mr. Editor: My name is Tad Collier and I am the animal control officer in Creighton. Ben is my dog. In regard to Tuesday's paper, Debbie Hiebert may be correct in the fly bites on her dog. I don't believe that flies were the cause of my dog's injuries. Previous to this incident, I had seen bears in my yard at least two to three times a week. I live at the end of my block surrounded by bush. After Ben was attacked, I noticed bear tracks, bear feces and claw marks in my yard. The black and white picture in the paper of Ben's injury did not do them justice. He had claw marks on his head and a bite through his ear. He is lucky to be alive. I would like to extend my sympathies to the lady in Creighton who lost her dog, I believe you. This has been an unusual year for bears. There are 20 - 30 bears at any of the local dumps. I hope people will realize where we live and I believe caution should be used concerning children and pets. Tad Collier (Creighton Animal Control Officer)
