Dear Editor, I am writing regarding our uptown shopping and the mayor's latest concerns stated the other day at the Chamber meeting. I have family, friends and neighbours who all work or own stores uptown. I have also worked uptown myself and have seen how great it is and the selection we do have. I know that everyone here has people they know, their neighbours, their friends, family or in-laws who work uptown. Are you supporting them? If you do not support the uptown, they will be gone before you know it. Then who will support your curling bonspiels, your children's yearbooks, your grad teas and MANY of the other donations you ask the local businesses to support. Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire can't and won't do it all, people. As for Mr. Mayor and the City Council, you say you want to help the uptown business wherever you can, well for starters how about getting yourselves up there and start shopping! It's very rare when I worked uptown that I saw the mayor or any council members in our store. You could at least show your support by showing yourselves in the uptown stores like we showed our support in you by voting you in. I challenge all of the City Council and Mr. Mayor to hit every store on Main Street before the holiday season is over, you don't have to buy from every store, but please show your support in person not just words. I can't imagine Flin Flon with no Main Street, and that's where we are heading. Please let's get into the Christmas spirit and get uptown and see the wonderful selection and the wonderful, personal service you do get up there. Let's keep our beautiful Main Street around for our children and grandchildren and show your support today! Thank you for your space in The Reminder, and I wish everyone happy shopping! Signed, A Main Street Shopping Supporter!
