The valedictorians were followed by the guest speaker for the afternoon, former student Jason Young. Quite funny and self-depreciating at times, Young delivered a worthy message that touched upon the acceptance of change and the realities of university, and held out a message to graduates to try to know where they are going before they embark. Following closing remarks, the new graduates exited the gym to Bryan Adams' Summer of '69. Succeeding the convocation ceremony, grads, teachers, family, and invited guests made their way over to the Lawrie Marsh Community Hall for the grad supper. Wonderful supper After a wonderful supper put together by the parents of the Grade 11 class, grads, teachers and parents took part in a series of toasts. With the toasts out of the way, it was time for the roasts. Grad adviser Lynore Spruyt once more had her marking pencil out and while recalling humorous grad traits and embarrassing instances. She managed to keep everyone chuckling in spite of a few red faces. Spruyt explained at the outset, that it was all in fun and it certainly was an enjoyable and humourous conclusion to this portion of the day. Following supper, the grand march was held in the schoolyard. The march sees many of Snow Lake's citizens gather to view the grads and escorts dressed in their finest. With the march over, people made their way back to the hall for the family social and safe grad. Another great Snow Lake dayÉ and certainly a great grad! My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.
