Continued from pg. 8 "So, just when we thought the hockey season was over, we find out we are just getting started," said the player's mom. Kari, who is the eldest daughter of Glen and Dianna Bartley, says that the next few months are going to be busy, with a lot of time spent driving up and down the Trans Canada (they live in Portage la Prairie). "But all of usÉ especially Ryland, are looking forward to it," she says. When young Ryland isn't playing hockey, he is partaking in another passion Ð cheering on his hometown Jr. Hockey Club, the Portage Terriers in their playoff run. Ryland's preferred player is Wabowden's favourite son, Kajon McKay, who just happens to be a former member of the AAA 'Midget' Norman Northstars. And there is good reason for that; McKay is billeted with the Semaniuks. At the time of this writing, the Terriers were playing the Dauphin Kings in the MJHL's Sherwood Division Final. Mom said that Ryland had been trying his hardest to get them to travel with the team, so that the Terriers would have some hometown support in the stands. "Oh to be young and not have any responsibilitiesÉ" said Kari. My Take on Snow Lake runs Fridays.1/4/11
