Trevor Miller Water quality isn't something I think a community ought to let slide until it becomes a problem; I'm glad council decided to be proactive on the matter before we were dealing with boil water notices and health concerns. It was a major project that will not be easy to pay for, but set beside the potential for serious consequences for residents, it was the right choice for our city. Had this been kicked down the road until it became a serious problem, the costs would have almost certainly been much higher. Ken Mansell I am glad that we will probably have the cleanest, safest, best tap water in Manitoba. I do not know if it was necessary to build such an elaborate facility, but it is in place now so it is all water under the bridge. I hope our utility bills are not going to be so high that more people are going to move to cottage country, Denare or Creighton. A $420,000 estimated yearly operational bill for only 6,000 people means every one of us will be levied $70. I hope it is not too much to swallow.Denny Hyndman I suppose you have to go with the flow, no pun intended, and Flin Flon has acted in accordance with provincial standards. Our water can be under ice with little movement for seven months out of a year, so samples vary in the first instance. No one was reported sick from our supply, and one group of harmful carcinogens out of a possible thousands were reduced to public safety standards. Ironically, this wonderful purification system still had to directly flow into each home through decrepit, ancient piping comprised of materials that were long ago ejected worldwide, forcing a catch-up, hefty bills and stress.
