No injuries reported in fall
Legion damage

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 73 building is closed after a falling trackhoe crashed through an exterior wall of the building July 2.

The machine was being used to demolish a derelict building located next to the Legion on Hapnot Street. Early in the morning, a trackhoe tumbled down a hill on the site, falling onto its side and taking out a portion of the Legion’s exterior wall.

No injuries were reported in the trackhoe tumble. The Legion will be closed until further notice.

“We’re closed and waiting for an engineer to do a structural inspection,” said Bob Penner, president of the Legion.
