Highway 135 to Sandy Bay was closed late last month after a summer storm caused multiple washouts and gravel slides along the road.

The closure was reported on July 23, when washouts were reported between Pelican Narrows and Sandy Bay after heavy rainfalls in the area. At least one portion of the road was washed away. Smaller roads around Sandy Bay were also damaged.

The road was reopened on July 26, and work crews worked to fix multiple washouts. Two areas about 15 kilometres away from the community were reduced to one lane of traffic. Speed limits were also reduced.

All communities along the road are now fully accessible.
