Flin Flon/Creighton and Area SPCA volunteers made sure not to pick up this dangerous animal. Workers at the group’s shelter spotted a wolf patrolling near the building on Cliff Lake Road last week.

Katrina Read was the fastest with her phone and managed to snap some photos of the elusive canine. Workers say they’ve seen tracks from a wolf since Dec. 12, but have not seen the beast until recently.

While wolf sightings are fairly common in Thompson – so much so that the community has become a tourist destination for people wanting to see wolves – sightings in Flin Flon are rare.

There are approximately 4,000 grey wolves in Manitoba.
