Flin Flon RCMP are looking for help from the public in solving a stabbing and an assault earlier this week.

Police were called to a home on Terrace Avenue on the evening of May 25 for a possible stabbing. Once officers arrived on scene, they found a 21-year-old man who had been stabbed running down the street. Police caught up to the man, who was taken to hospital, had his injuries treated and was released May 26.

A suspect was initially arrested by RCMP, but charges have not yet been laid.

Hours later on May 26, RCMP received a call of a possible assault around 4:30 a.m. on Callinan Street, finding a different 21-year-old man injured. The 21-year-old was taken to hospital for undetermined injuries. His current condition is unknown.

Later on May 26, RCMP were told on direction from the provincial Forensic Identifcation Unit (FIU) to tape off the area where the assault was believed to have taken place to preserve the crime scene. FIU members arrived in Flin Flon May 27 and examined the scene. The area was unsecured as of the evening of May 27.

No arrests have been made in the assault. It is unclear if the two incidents are connected.

Any member of the public with information relevant to the case is asked to call the Flin Flon RCMP detachment at (204) 687-1423.
