A 16-year-old from Flin Flon wanted by police on a Canada Wide Warrant has been found and is in RCMP custody.

The teen was wanted by RCMP on a warrant for escaping lawful custody, as well as two other warrants for multiple charges including robbery and assault with a weapon. RCMP reported the suspect had allegedly entered two homes and threatened people inside with a weapon.

Before the arrest, the teen was considered to be armed and dangerous, as well as a threat to public safety.

"The RCMP thanks the public and the media for their assistance," reads a media release issued by police Feb. 18.

RCMP published the name of the teen while he was evading police custody, having received a temporary approval from a youth justice judge to share the information.

The application was approved as there is reason to believe that the young person may be a danger to others and that the publication of information is necessary to assist in apprehending the young person.

The name of the offender now cannot be published, as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act. A court date for the suspect has not yet been set.
