No injuries and no charges have resulted from a police situation that caused a Flin Flon school to lock down last week.

Flin Flon RCMP were called to an area near Ecole McIsaac School March 17 after receiving a report that a person had expressed ideations of self-harm and may be armed. The school was put into a secure and hold state while RCMP responded to the call.

Police were able to make contact with the person they were first notified about. That person later ended up at Flin Flon General Hospital for a mental health assessment. No arrests, charges or injuries were reported in the incident.

The school’s secure and hold order was in place for about an hour around the school’s lunch break. Students and staff who were still at the school were not allowed outside the school, while others who had already left for lunch were not allowed back until police determined the area was safe.

“There is no immediate threat to our school, but at this time there will be no one exiting or entering our school,” read an online statement issued on the school’s Facebook page. Another post on the page confirmed mere minutes later that the order was lifted, adding that buses would be running and students would be able to return to class.
