Forty-seven people now have COVID-19 in northern Manitoba, with seven new cases of the disease joined by several recoveries.

The new cases in northern Manitoba are mostly around the Thompson area - four new cases were reported in the Thompson/Mystery Lake district, with one case each reported in the Nelson House/Nisichawayasihk, Bay Line, The Pas/Opaskwayak/Kelsey and the Lynn Lake/Marcel Colomb/Leaf Rapids/O-Pipon-Na-Piwin/Granville districts. One of the cases was moved from being in an "unknown district" - five cases are still in areas not yet identified by health officials.

The Thompson district has 15 active cases, leading all northern districts. The Pas/OCN/Kelsey has seven active cases, with Cross Lake/Pimicikamak having six. All other regions have three or fewer - Lynn Lake/Marcel Colomb/Leaf Rapids/O-Pipon-Na-Piwin/Granville and Nelson House/Nisichawayasihk have three each, while Bay Line, Bunibonibee/Oxford House/Manto Sipi/Gods River/Gods Lake, Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon and Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake have two each. One active case has been reported in Island Lake and Gillam/Fox Lake.

Both active cases in the Flin Flon/Snow Lake district are in Snow Lake - both people who have tested positive are Hudbay employees and close contacts.

Northern Manitoba has 47 active cases of COVID-19. Four people are hospitalized in the region, with none in intensive care. The region has reported 76 total cases of COVID-19 - 29 people in the north have recovered from the disease. No deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in the region.

Cases in the far north east region of Saskatchewan are beginning to tail off. Thirty-six people in the region have COVID-19 as of Oct. 23, but no new cases have been reported in the region Friday. All 36 cases in the region are in the far north east 1 zone, which includes communities such as La Ronge, Southend, Stanley Mission and communities within Lac La Ronge Indian Band that have reported COVID-19 cases. No cases are within the far north east 2 zone, which contains Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay and other area communities.
