No new COVID-19 cases in northern Manitoba July 14, one case still active in Flin Flon district

No new COVID-19 cases were reported in the Northern Health Region (NHR) Wednesday - the first time that has happened in more than nine months.

While 44 net new cases were announced province-wide July 14, all cases were found in the other four health regions in Manitoba. The last day where no new COVID-19 infections were found in northern Manitoba was Oct. 12, 2020. 

Province-wide, five-day test positivity rates have dropped to four per cent, including 3.8 per cent in Winnipeg. A total of 981 Manitobans are still considered as active COVID-19 cases, with 131 people from the province hospitalized due to COVID-19 and 33 people in intensive care. Four of the people hospitalized are northern residents, one of whom is in an intensive care unit.

No new possible public exposures or outbreaks were announced in the north Wednesday.

Within the NHR, 204 active cases remain, including just one in the Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon health district. Three northern districts - Gillam/Fox Lake and Lynn Lake/Marcel Colomb/Leaf Rapids/O-Pipon-Na-Piwin/Granville Lake, as well as Churchill, covered by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority - have no active COVID-19 cases. The health district with the most cases in the north is The Pas/OCN/Kelsey, where 84 people are currently positive for COVID-19.
