COVID-19 has once again packed its bags and left the Flin Flon district.
No active cases of the disease are listed in the Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon district Feb. 17, according to provincial government data. The district is now one of only two districts in the Northern Health Region (NHR) without at least one active COVID-19 case - the only other district is the Pukatawagan/Mathias Colomb district.
The Churchill health district also does not have any active COVID-19 district - the community of Churchill is administered by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, not the NHR.
Northern Manitoba as a whole continues to see active case numbers rise, according to the most recent provincial data release. The region reported another 44 active cases of COVID-19, with most coming from the Cross Lake/Pimicikamak district (14 new cases and 134 active) and the Shamattawa/York Factory/Tataskweyak/Split Lake district (11 new cases, 51 active). Other increases came from The Pas/OCN/Kelsey (eight new cases, 20 total active) and Thompson/Mystery Lake (seven new cases, 78 total active).
No new outbreaks or possible public exposures were reported in northern Manitoba Feb. 17.
