Two new doctors have arrived in Flin Flon.

Dr. Sadia Lone and Dr. Inira Murug have joined the NHR’s staff.

Dr. Lone began seeing patients last week. Dr. Murug will begin with the NHR on Sept. 2 and will start seeing patients once she has completed a two-week orientation period.

The NHR is funded for three physician positions and two nurse practitioner positions, all of which are currently filled.

For a brief period of time, there will be some overlap as four doctors will staff the clinic, but that time will be short lived.

An NHR spokesperson said the public will not notice any change in service levels as the transition takes place.

In March 2018, Dr. Farshid Eghbali left the Flin Flon clinic. Since that time, the NHR has employed locums to fill a gap in the full-time physician staff of the organization.

A new doctor will also arrive in Snow Lake on Aug. 27. Dr. Michael Haldorson was born and raised in Manitoba and received family medicine training at the University of British Columbia, with a focus on becoming a full-scope rural general practitioner.

Snow Lake has been without a permanent physician since the departure of Dr. Eman Yousif in late April 2018, and health care in Snow Lake has been covered by locum physicians since that time.
