May calls to Creighton RCMP decrease from last year

In total, 82 calls came to the detachment, a sizeable decrease from the 130 calls that came in May 2018.

One missing persons report was filed by someone in regard to a significant other. After investigating, police found the person had not actually been missing and was easily located.

Six liquor offences ended with tickets issued. One fraud offence was also called in, with someone attempting to cash a cheque twice by using a cell phone for a deposit.

A break-and-enter call also came in from Creighton, with a person attempting to gain after-hours access to a place they used to work at. The person was found, arrested and will appear in court.

The community also played host to a breach of peace matter involving an intoxicated man causing issues at a residence. The person was taken from the home and moved to a different residence.

One mental health issue was also reported. The person involved, who was intoxicated, was taken to cells until sober, then taken to a medical professional for a an assessment.

Denare Beach saw a total of 43 calls made to authorities, 16 to the Amisk Lake reserve area and 27 in the municipal area.

Three assault calls were made, including a matter of a group of kids fighting. The families involved dealt with the matter. Another instance involved someone throwing a glass at a bartender, while someone throwing a bottle at a bartender was the third call.

Mischief offences reported included a group of youths covering a car in body wash, a group of youths found jumping on a picnic table, two cases of intoxicated people causing disturbances and a matter of someone opening another person’s garage door and taking items following a break-up.

One break-and-enter call involved a television missing from a cottage. The theft was reported, but after responding to the call, RCMP discovered the items reported missing belonged to the caller’s neighbours and they had been returned.

“The theft never occurred,” reads the report.

A missing persons file was generated for a pair of people who had gotten stuck on a muddy road. After spending the night in their vehicle, the pair were found and returned home safe.

Four mischief offences were reported at Amisk Lake, including a damaged boat motor and cases of intoxicated people in unwanted areas.

One theft was reported after a bicycle went missing. The bike was returned, with the families involved having spoken about its disappearance.

A pair of assaults were reported, including an act of domestic violence that ended with an arrest and charges. The second assault involved two brothers fighting, which ended with charges. The second case is now before the courts.

Two calls came from Sturgeon Landing, including a report of someone of pointing a firearm. One arrest was made and charges were laid after a person was found pointing what was determined to be a BB gun at another person.

“The matter will be going to court,” reads the report.
