A man is facing an attempted murder charge after an incident in Pelican Narrows June 22.

Pelican Narrows RCMP were called to an assault in progress around 9:15 p.m. on Custer Road and found a 27-year-old man beaten at the scene, suffering from what RCMP called "what appeared to be serious, life-threatening injuries" in a news release.

On reaching the scene, police were told a 33-year-old man had inflicted the beating on the victim. The man was located and arrested almost immediately.

The suspect, identified by RCMP as Travis McCallum of Pelican Narrows, has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. McCallum is scheduled to make his first appearance in court June 30.

The victim was airlifted to hospital in Saskatoon. His condition is unknown.

Pelican Narrows RCMP, along with members from the Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit South, are investigating the incident.
