Voters in Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach can now cast their votes in the federal election.

Elections Canada has opened offices in Flin Flon and in Denare Beach, allowing voters to cast their ballots any day before Oct. 15.

The Flin Flon site is located in the former office portion of the old North of 54 Consumer’s Co-op store. According to the Elections Canada website, the Denare Beach location is at 1700 Wigwam Drive. Both ballot spots are staffed by volunteers. Voters will need a photo ID to cast their ballots.

In addition to the offices, other locations have been designated for both advance polls and election day voting. The R.H. Channing Auditorium will be open for advance voting from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. from Oct. 11-14. Voters from Creighton and Denare Beach can mark their choice from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Creighton Community Centre on the same days.

Other locations will open on election day. Three areas in Flin Flon - the Northminster Memorial United Church, St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church and the R.H. Channing Auditorium - will be open for voting from 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Creighton will be served by the Creighton Community Centre from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m., while voters in Denare Beach can cast their ballots at the Denareplex at the same time.

Mobile polls will be available on election day in the communities to allow people living in care homes and manors to cast votes.

The Reminder will feature questionnaires with candidates running in both Churchill-Keewatinook Aski (which covers Flin Flon and the rest of northern Manitoba) and Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River (which covers Creighton, Denare Beach and the rest of northern Saskatchewan) in our Oct. 16 issue ahead of the election.
