A 61-year-old Flin Flon man is facing several charges, including child sexual assault, following an RCMP investigation. Police have uncovered two alleged victims and are concerned there may be more.

According to a Manitoba RCMP press release, Dana Dadson was arrested Oct. 29 and faces several charges in relation to alleged sexual interference with underaged males.

In Nov. 2019, a teenage male under the age of 16 reported to Flin Flon RCMP that he had been sexually assaulted by an older man who had met the youth on Snapchat. The man had allegedly posed as a high school student on the app. When the two met, the adult male allegedly sexually assaulted the youth.

The report began a deep dive that included investigators from the Manitoba RCMP Internet Child Exploitation team. Police were able to gather information from social media platforms, eventually gathering enough info to arrest Dadson.

“A lengthy and technical process started, whereby police were able to gain access to information from social media platforms. Enough evidence was gathered to make an arrest,” reads the Nov. 2 release.

Following Dadson’s arrest, RCMP were notified of another victim, another teenage male under age 16. Police are concerned there may be more victims, adding Dadson allegedly used Snapchat and other websites and often used aliases.

Dadson is known within the community as the president of Dadson’s Funeral Home and a former member of the Flin Flon School Division board of trustees. Dadson also ran a landscaping business that employed Flin Flon students over the summer months.

RCMP are requesting anyone with further information to call the Flin Flon detachment at (204) 687-1423 or anonymously contact Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or manitobacrimestoppers.ca.
