Mark down one more victory for Flin Flon in the annual SnoRiders Sledtown Showdown. Flin Flon took down Thompson to win the online vote to determine Manitoba’s best snowmobile destination.

The two northern communities were pitted against each other in an online vote from Jan. 20–Feb. 2. While the vote was close for several days, Flin Flon eventually pulled away, earning 54 per cent of the ballot and winning 4,786 votes to 4,111.

Having won the provincial title, Flin Flon will, for the second straight winter, be entered into a draw with three other communities that won their respective provinces’ own online votes. Hudson Bay will earn the title for Saskatchewan, having defeated Carrot River/Arborfield 1,532 votes to 1,203, while Alberta will be represented by champs Edson, which defeated Fox Creek handily with 64 per cent of the vote and 1,773 total votes cast. In B.C., Tumbler Ridge, last year’s Sledtown Showdown champions, were taken out by giant killers McBride, which received 2,221 votes in the fourth of four provincial polls.

The four remaining communities will be pitted against each other in another set of online polls. The winning community in the western Canadian will receive bragging rights, a trophy and a series of articles in SnoRiders magazine, a regional snowmobiling magazine.

Voters can cast a vote once per day per device at snoriderswest.com.
