Flin Flon district reports five cases, Manitobans in intensive care being sent to three provinces

Another five cases of COVID-19 were announced in the Flin Flon health district Friday, part of 326 net new cases found in Manitoba. 

The Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon district now has 19 active cases of COVID-19. Since the pandemic began, 205 people have had the disease in the district and recovered, while three people - as well as one person in Creighton - have died from the disease. 

No new possible public exposures or outbreaks have been announced in the Northern Health Region (NHR), but new cases have been concentrated in four districts - the Island Lake district (where five new cases were reported Friday), Grand Rapids/Misipawistik/Moose Lake/Mosakahiken/Easterville/Chemawawin (eight new cases), The Pas/OCN/Kelsey (four new cases) and the Flin Flon district. Over the past five days, no other northern district has reported more new COVID-19 cases than The Pas/OCN/Kelsey - the district has seen 20 new cases from May 31-June 4. The Grand Rapids district has reported 14 new cases over that timeframe, while the Flin Flon district has reported 10 new cases over that time.

Province-wide, 4,191 people have active COVID-19 cases, including 245 cases in the NHR. A total of 106 Manitobans are in intensive care due to COVID-19, 41 of whom have been taken out of province for medical care - most of these people have been transported to Ontario, with others taken to Saskatchewan and Alberta. A total of 293 people are in Manitoba hospitals due to COVID-19.
