Fire Chief's Report: Ten calls, $25k in fire damage reported in February

Feb. 1: Medical assistance at Flin Flon General Hospital, 08:00. A page was received to assist EMS crews at the hospital. Rescue one responded. Fire crews assisted EMS crews lifting the patient at the hospital. Feb.

Feb. 1: Medical assistance at Flin Flon General Hospital, 08:00. A page was received to assist EMS crews at the hospital. Rescue one responded. Fire crews assisted EMS crews lifting the patient at the hospital.

Feb. 1: Residential fire alarm at 48 Church Street, 20:28. A page was received for a fire alarm. Duty officer and engine two responded. Smoke alarm was determined to be false.

Feb. 5: Motor vehicle collision on Third Avenue hill, 09:50. A page was received for a motor vehicle collision on Third Avenue hill. Rescue one responded. No injuries were reported.

Feb. 12: Motor vehicle collision on Channing Drive, 21:30. A page was received for a single vehicle rollover south of the Channing airstrip. Fire chief responded. No injuries were reported.  Feb. 16: Mutual aid, residential structure fire at 515 Broderick Avenue, Creighton, 07:55. A page was received for a mutual aid request for a residential structure fire. Rescue one and engine two responded.

Feb. 18: Residential structure fire at 26 Hapnot Street, 11:10. A page was received for a residential structure fire. Rescue one, engine two, engine one and fire chief responded. Fire crews found steam leaving a window due to improper venting of a clothes dryer.

Feb. 21: Motor vehicle collision at Third Avenue hill, 23:49. A page was received for a single vehicle rollover at the bottom of Third Avenue hill. Duty officer and rescue one responded. Occupant was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Feb. 26: Medical assistance  at 72 Green Street, 15:50. A page was received to assist EMS crews. Rescue one responded. Fire crews assisted EMS crews lifting the patient at the residence.

Feb. 26: Residential structure fire at 197 Roche Boulevard, 19:34. A page was received for a residential structure fire/chimney fire. Rescue one, engine two, engine one and fire chief responded. Fire was extinguished by homeowner upon        arrival of fire crews. Fire crews checked for fire extension around the chimney.

Feb. 28: Residential structure fire at 95 First Avenue, 00:26. A page was received for a residential structure fire. Rescue one, engine two, engine one and fire chief responded. Fire crews found light smoke coming from the structure. Fire crews made entry into the structure and quickly extinguished the fire. Searches of the residence came up negative. Fire damages were contained to the kitchen of the residence. No injuries were reported and the fire cause was determined to be accidental.

February’s fire damage losses were $25,000. A total of ten incidents were recorded for the month of February. The total number of incidents for the corresponding month of February in 2018 was six.
