Lease rates for some properties will soon change in Creighton.

Rates for residential properties will change from 40 cents per square meter to 80 cents per square meter, while commercial rates will increase from 60 cents per square metre to $1 per square metre.

Commercial rates by the acre will increase slightly, going from $792.50 per acre to an even $800. Industrial rates will go up by just over $30, reaching $405.57 per acre.

The administration fee was also changed from $25 per year to $35 during the Feb. 14 meeting of Creighton Town Council.

“We review them every few years. Everything increases and we try to keep it as minimal as possible, but we have to coincide with everything else – maintenance, cost, things like that,” said Mayor Bruce Fidler.

Council made some changes regarding properties at the meeting, proceeding with Form C six-month notices on two in-arrears properties and transferring unpaid charges to three others. The charges on the three properties with outstanding debt include unpaid dump fees and water and garbage. In total, the charges come to just over $800.
