An update to Creighton’s house number bylaw has been suggested.

Discussion on the subject took place during the Aug. 21 town council meeting. According to council members, some properties and streets within Creighton may need to be added or updated for provincial address records.

Some recently erected buildings in Creighton, including a new business located on Phantom Lake Road, do not have official registered addresses with the Civic Address Registry (CAR). First responders use the registry to quickly find addresses and property information during emergencies.

Other locations, including new portions of Collins Street, have not been added, while two streets at the Creighton trailer court have not been officially named.

“If there’s a 911 call and it goes to Prince Albert, they need to have all our addresses on the map and identified,” said Paula Muench, chief administrative officer for the Town of Creighton.

“We would give them the map, show them all so they can put it on their maps, so when there’s a call, they can get there. It’s much easier when you have a street name with a house number.”

Lagoon

Mayor Bruce Fidler confirmed that dredging work had started at the site of the town’s septic lagoon.

Last September, Fidler said the lagoon had not been dredged in 24 years.

“They pump it out into big bags - the solid stuff stays in the bag and the liquid seeps out, back into the lagoon,” he said.

“It’s a crappy job, but someone’s got to do it,” quipped councillor Neal Andrusiak.

Manholes

Eight manhole sites in Creighton have been repaired so far this summer.

A detailed report sent to the town by contractor JS Industries provided updates on the eight manhole sites that have been fixed this summer, showing repairs that ranged from small pipe joint repairs to bacteria remediation.

Fidler said that some manholes in Creighton were deemed beyond repair and will be addressed at a later date.

“Those ones will be replaced or fixed up through a priority list - the worst is first,” he said.
